The winners of the 2026 Good Food Awards were announced June 2, with 15 roasted coffees from 13 U.S. roasters taking top honors in the coffee category.
This year’s coffee winner list leans heavily toward Ethiopian coffees, while also including blends and distinctive lots originating from Colombia, Costa Rica and Rwanda. Two roasters — Ohio-based Crimson Coffee and North Carolina-based Magnolia Coffee — each landed multiple wins.
Now in its 16th year, the broader awards program recognized 242 products from 198 crafters across 18 categories, selected through blind tasting from more than 1,200 entries. Winners were chosen based on taste, quality, responsible production and adherence to category standards, among other criteria.
In the coffee category specifically, the Good Food Foundation uses a two-round process: a first round involving at-home brewing by Bay Area evaluators and a public participation component, followed by a second round led by coffee professionals using cupping and evaluation protocols. The 2026 cycle also introduced a new delineation between seasonal and year-round offerings, designed to encourage what the foundation describes as “market-ready” entries.
As of this year, the Good Food Awards program is operated under the Specialty Food Association umbrella. The 242 winning products across all categories will be celebrated in person at a June 27 event in New York City ahead of the June 28 Good Food Mercantile. The events are in conjunction with the SFA’s Summer Fancy Food Show.
