New Hampton Coffee Spot Mixes 90s Vibes, Big Flavor, and Even Bigger Heart

Local entrepreneur Melanie King opened the shop at 1146 Big Bethel Road on September 29 with one goal: to create a space that brings people together. The result is a place that feels like home, built around a shared love of coffee and 90s culture.
She named the shop Drip ‘n Sip in honor of her late brother, who passed away unexpectedly in 2024. Every detail—from the vintage-inspired décor to the colorful drink menu—reflects Melanie’s vision and her brother’s influence.
“He was a ’90s kid through and through, and we both loved the idea of a space that feels inclusive, relaxed, and a little nostalgic,” Melanie said. “This shop is a tribute to him—and a gift to the community.”
From Real Estate to Fresh-Brewed Coffee
Before opening her coffee shop, Melanie spent 15 years in real estate, a career she still juggles alongside her new role as a coffee shop owner. She knew she wanted something original, not a franchise. But she also knew she couldn’t do it alone.
That’s when she found Crimson Cup and our 7 Steps to Success program. After a few conversations with the 7 Steps team, Melanie flew to Columbus, Ohio, to visit our roasting and training center.
“It was the best decision I could have made,” she said. “They were honest with me about everything—the process, the products, the costs. Steve Bayless and Heather Syx were with me every step of the way. It felt more like a partnership than a transaction.”
Building a Business with Soul

Inside Drip ‘n Sip, you’ll find more than espresso shots and seasonal lattes. Customers hang out at the communal table, browse books, and swap stories with baristas. The menu features drinks that keep people coming back, and the vibe is laid-back and welcoming.
“People say things like, ‘Y’all just stole me from the big chains,’ and it cracks me up,” Melanie said. “But that’s what we’re going for—something that feels local and personal.”
Melanie also credits Crimson Cup with helping her save time and money on equipment. “I thought I needed over $100,000 worth of gear to get started. They showed me how to be smart about it and still serve high-quality drinks.”
Her advice for others thinking about opening a shop? Ask for help.
“Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. There are people who’ve already done the hard work. Crimson Cup made it possible for me to do this without all the guesswork.”
A ’90s Themed Grand Opening Celebration
Drip ‘n Sip held its official grand opening celebration on Wednesday, November 19. The community showed up in full force to welcome the shop, enjoying drink specials, giveaways, and a full day of retro fun from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. was one highlight, followed by the announcement of the giveaway winner of tickets to an upcoming Brandy & Monica concert at 3 p.m.
With throwback tracks and a full dose of 90s flair, the shop buzzed with excitement and hometown pride. Lines stretched out the door, and baristas made sure each patron received the handcrafted drink of their choice.
