Welcome to State Street Coffee & Ice Cream in Elberta, Ala.

When a construction office in Elberta, Alabama, was converted into a coffee and ice cream shop, it quickly became the newest local hangout, showcasing how community spirit meets smart planning.

State Street Coffee and Ice Cream opened on November 10, 2025, at 24893 State Street. And it’s already making waves with handcrafted espresso, scooped-to-order ice cream, and a big helping of hometown heart.

From Office Space to Gathering Place

Owners Candice Bass and Brett, Robert, and Drew Harrison saw an opportunity: their downtown office had more space than they needed.

Instead of letting it sit empty, they asked the community what they wanted.

The answer? A place to hang out, sip something warm, and enjoy a sweet treat.

“We asked what people wanted, and the response was clear,” said team member Grace Mathis. “Elberta needed a place to hang out, get a good cup of coffee, and enjoy something sweet.”

The team got to work. But they realized they couldn’t do it alone.
