Excellent Travel Espresso Machine

5 out of 5 stars

Excellent Travel Espresso Machine
This travel espresso machine is an excellent choice. It operates cordlessly during use, but it requires a high-powered charger for recharging. With cold water, it can produce at least two 65 ml shots per charge. However, if you use preheated water, it can produce over 100 shots. I used Nespresso pods with it, and they worked flawlessly. The machine feels sturdy due to its substantial weight. It’s compact and self-contained, making it ideal for travel. However, I found the instructions a bit confusing or incorrect. After some trial and error, I discovered the proper sequence of button presses to extract cold water and heat the water before extraction, which significantly improved the experience. Now, it works great. Simply press the power button, hold it down until the red lights illuminate, and it will heat the water and then extract.

I ordered this little espresso maker for my husband who goes hiking every weekend, and honestly, it’s exactly what he needed. It’s small, portable, and super easy to use—perfect for outdoors. The 20Bar pressure really makes a nice espresso, and the self-heating feature means he doesn’t have to worry about carrying extra gear.
He loves that it works with both ground coffee and capsules, so he can switch it up depending on the day. The battery charges fast with USB-C, and it holds enough power for a few cups on the trail. Now he gets to enjoy his favorite coffee while hiking, camping, or even on long drives. Total game changer!

I already have a Keurig but wanted to be able to make true espresso with espresso pods as well. However there is no way I can fit two big coffee machines in my kitchen. This handy, compact cylinder is a fabulous solution! It makes absolutely delicious-tasting espresso and even leaves a bit of froth at the top. I am surprised at how well this works to extract the flavor even when not using the heated mode and less- than-boiling water. There are some downsides but they are generally not a huge issue for me so far. The battery life on one charge for making and heating espresso is not great. This means if you take camping and don’t have a solar generator or juiced-up portable chargers you will only be able to make 4-5 tiny cups. I find the water reservoir extremely small especially if you add the lid so I tend to pour in 2 or three bits of hot water. This extracts more of the flavor than the tiny amount that comes out, and as I tend to use to either make an Americano-style drink or add richness to a weak cup of keurig coffee. I add extra hot water from my keurig to make it more of a regular coffee, like I did this morning- see photo. I use coconut milk which is why you see oil on tiop that is not from the espresso maker. I find that even if I use hot water by the time it comes out it is still too cold from my taste. The top reservoir is so small with lid on that I tend to pout the water in and brew without the lid so I can add more hot water, of course sometimes doing it this way it spills on my hands. However II am using hot water from a keurig po=ured into a seperate cup, so it is not boiling hot water, and no injuries- just would not recommend if you are using boiling water straight from the fire. Another thing to note about the design, you must remove the bottom cap (which doubles as a cup if you don’t mind drinking hot liquids from plastic) BEFORE you brew. The first time I used I left it on and it spilled over the edges. This cap is more to catch the drips after use and keep it clean for travel/storage. Rinse after using, be sure not to stick your fingers inside when washing- I pricked myself by accident when cleaning. Generally this feels like a very solidly-built, quality piece, While I have some minor quibbles with the design, like the charge life being a bit short and the water reservoir too small, I am sure these were trade-offs to delivering a compact package. What matters most to me is that this actually works really well, makes an incredibly flavorful; and well-extracted coffee, doesn’t require alkaline batteries, and is compact and easy to use. I have been using this daily since I first tried it and an generally very happy with this small but mighty espresso maker. The listed price is a bit more than some comparable models and less than others, but cheaper is not a value if the product doesn’t work well which this one does.

I ordered 3 portable expresso makers to see which I liked best, and of the 3, this one was the worst. I tried making an expresso 3 times after reading the instructions carefully. It made a mess and leaked all over the place. This is a terrible product.

I have 4 different machines to make coffee at home – a regular coffee pot, kcup machine, large espresso/latte machine & pour over, so I think of myself as almost a coffee expert. All of the machines were easy to put together and use. This 5th one however, is EXTREMELY confusing. I know it is supposed to be compact for travel, which is the reason I ordered it – to take on vacation with me earlier this month. I planned to bring kcups to use this with to make espresso. The directions are very confusing, but figured out which one was supposed to fit the kcup into – well it didn't fit, which frustrated me. I did not see this when ordering. Okay, fine. I'll bring regular coffee. I then tried to make with just regular coffee and needless to say, I was so frustrated I gave up. It's not worth the excessive amount of time that it took me to figure out how to use. I cannot attest to how it tastes or the quality of the coffee it makes, because I never actually got a cup of coffee from it. It doesn't seem like it holds a lot of water though. Buy at your own risk, I saw others figured it out so maybe you can too. I would go elsewhere.

I bought this, so I could have a portable coffee maker when I travel. It does have a learning car. The first time I just attempted to make coffee without reading the directions and it came out cold. The second time I did follow the directions and it came out pretty decent. It’s great for on the go. It does take a little bit to brew it. But once you figure it out, it’s not terrible. It seems to work well. It is a little heavy, so that’s definitely something to taken into consideration if you’re carrying it around with you. It doesn’t make much noise when it’s brewing, either which was probably part of the learning curve.
