I was excited to use this cold brew maker because we wanted to save money on purchasing premade cold brew, and wanted to use our own coffee blend. The pitcher comes with instructions on assembling, and there are different pieces to offer pouring options, including a straw poor top which makes for easy serving.
The issue I have this this cold brew maker is the size of the filter that's meant to hold the coffee grounds. It holds about 2/3rds of a cup, which, if following an average strength ratio for cold brew, doesn't allow the grounds to actually sit in the water. If the water is filled to the top, you will have a very weak cold brew. If this is to your liking, you'll be fine! If you like a stronger cold brew (like most) you'll have to do what we did. Pour the grounds directing into the jug without using the filter, and pour it over a sieve, cheesecloth, or coffee filter for each cup.
All of the parts were well functioning aside from the size of the filter, which should be much wider to accommodate enough coffee to fill the jug completely. But other than that, there is a locking mechanism on the lid that helps to prevent and spills, and the lid securely screws onto the top with no issue. I do wish there were some sort of handle on the side of the jug, if you have smaller hands, it's a bit difficult to grip from the side to pour. There is a handle on the top to help with this, but I don't trust any handle like that, even though it seems sturdy.
Overall, if you like a weaker cold brew, this might work for you to make a small batch, but I'd look elsewhere if you need a stronger brew, or like to make concentrate. It's easy to take apart and clean, and the pieces are dishwasher safe in the top rack, so it's relatively easy to clean.
